Paddle Packaging with new eco-friendly inserts was awarded in the New Materials category
Stora Enso Packaging Solutions design team, Līga Vīksne, Ģirts Derums and Mari Sumuranta created 100% plastic free packaging for Melker of Sweden’s paddles. The package is made of corrugated box and four Papira® by Stora Enso cellulose foam as inserts to reduce packing time noticeably and give extra protection for paddles. It also has a smart multiuse element for second life – a hanger for paddles that is fixed to the wall when they are not used. Cellulose foam is designed to be completely bio-based, biodegradable, compostable and above all, curb side recyclable in ordinary paper recycling.

Stora Enso designer Ģirts Lībeks developed an interactive and innovative packaging for Babbit, a Hi-Fi Spotify speaker for children. The opening experience of the packaging is adventurous for both kids and adults as it has hidden secrets linked to the product and the brand name Babbit. The box is made of corrugated board, that is much more eco-friendly than plastic alternatives. It can be reused to store all the product parts, easier to recycle and safer for kids at the opening experience. Corrugated handle ensures safe and comfortable carrying of the product and the dimensions are tailored to be extra convenient on Euro pallet.
